Raziya Begum, sultan name, Raziya al-Din (1205 – October 13, 1240), throne name Jalâlat-ud-Dîn Raziyâ, usually referred to in history as Razia Sultan, was the Sultan of Delhi from 10 November 1236 – 14 October 1240. She was famously the only female ever to rule the Delhi Sultanate.

Iltutmish died in 1236 CE. Before his death, he nominated his daughter Razia Sultana, as the successor to the throne. Razia managed to end chaos and established law and order. She was able, wise and led her army in wars. She also took actions against corrupt nobles. However, her growing favour for a slave call Yakut and reluctance of the nobles. To accept her as the ruler, led to a rebellion against her. In order to avoid trouble, Raja married Altunia. Together they marched towards Delhi to recover the throne but were defeated and killed in 1240 CE.

Hope it helps.
