Feroze Shah Tughlaq was a religious man. He was not a skilled warrior or administrator. His efforts of conquests resulted in failure so he decided to look inwards and make sweeping reforms to satisfy his subjects.

Explanation:

Feroze Shah Tughlaq  ( 1351- 1358) brought in the following reforms:-

1. 21 miscellaneous taxes were abolished to reduce the burden on the population. Only 5 taxes were levied.

2.Revenue survey was carried out, income of state was fixed in perpetuity reducing extra burden on peasants.

3.The Emperor stopped receiving any kind of gifts, again reducing the burden on peasant.

4.Torture, abuse and criminal amputation of limbs of prisoners was abolished.

5.Penal code was made mild.

6.Department of Charity was established to provide financial assistance to poor.

7. Pensions were given and slaves were looked after

8.Free hospitals and free kitchens were established.

9. Five canals were dug up got providing irrigation facilities

10. Monuments, reservoirs, palaces were built.
