The architecture of the regional kingdoms was influenced by the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. Ahmad Shah of Gujarat  founded Ahmedabad. He built the Jami Masjid and the Sidi Sayyid Mosque which is known for its beautiful jali screens. The rulers of Malwa built the Jama Masjid, the Asharfi Mahal, the Hindola Mahal, and the Jahaz Mahal at Mandu. The Ilyas Shahi and the Husain Shahi rulers of Bengal built impressive monuments like the Adina Masjid and the Dakhil Darwaza.

The Rajput rulers built a number of forts for example the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. Rana Kumbha built the Victory Tower at Chittor. The Vijayanagar rulers built beautiful temples at Hampi. The walls of the temples are decorated with beautiful sculptures. The Bahmani sultans built a number of mosques, madrasahs and tombs. The Qutb Shahis built the famous Char Minar at Hyderabad.
