Scientific forestry refers to the systematic planting of trees and its effective management. Natural forests with a variety of trees were uprooted and a particular tree species is planted in whole area to obtain a plantation. And this is done gradually year after year to cover maximum available area.

Eg....

Tea plantations of Assam, Coffee plantations of Karnataka, Rubber and Teak plantations, etc.

Scientific forestry is the science of managing forests amd tree plantations. Natural forests with different types of trees were cut down and replaced with one type of tree planted in rows known as plantation. The forests were surveyed by officials according to areas under different types of trees and plans were made for forest management. A portion of the plantation area was cut down every year and replanted so that it was available to be used within a few years.
Dietrich Brandis, the first IG of Forests of India, introduced the system of Scientific Forestry in india, because he and of course the British wanted to frame laws which would restrict the felling of trees by the foresters and villagers. For this, a system which emphasised on MONOCULTURE was introduced in which old and matured trees were cut and new ones replanted so that their needs too get fulfilled and there occurs no shortage of oak timber. Hope its suffficient.
