Shifting cultivation is also known as 'Slash and Burn' cultivation.It is type of subsistence farming.In this farming,Farmers burn and clear the forests.The ash is left behind.It is used as Manure.The crops are the grown there until the soil loses its fertility.Then they go to another plot and repeat the process.
In eastern India, it is also known as 'Jhumming'.
The disadvantages of this farming are:
