Thoe were called shrenis. There were wparate guilds different crafts. They gave traimng to the craftsmen, bought raw material from different places and gave it to the craftsrnen, distr±uted the finished product, acted as banks and gave grants to build temples and monasteries.

According to the literature or context of Ancient India Shreni was an association of traders, merchants and artisans. Generally each shreni was involved with particular activities.

Brahmins were involved with Pujas, Prayers, education.

Khatriyas was involved in Soldier,Protector or Ruling activities.

Baiysa shreni involved in Business and Shudra shreni was below level foremen, laymen cobler etc..
