Silicon is a chemical element occurring free in the nature and classified as second most abundant element after oxygen in the periodic table. It's a metalloid having properties of both metal and non metal.
Silicate is any of the large number of minerals formed with the mixture of silicon with oxygen in the anion, constitute and one or more other elements.the largest class of minerals and are used in building materials like cement,bricks and glass.
