About :- Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was an eminent engineer and politician. He played an important role in the making of modern India. In view of his contribution in the making of India, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest honor of the country in the year 1955. In India, his birthday is celebrated as Engineer Day. He was awarded the 'Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire' (KCIE) by the British Government for his service to the public. He was the Chief Designer of the Flood Protection System of Hyderabad city and as the Chief Engineer, played a key role in the construction of the Krishna Sagar Dam in Mysore.

  • He is a recipient of the Indian Republic’s highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955.
  • He was also awarded honorary Membership of London Institution of Civil Engineers for an unbroken period of 50 years.

Introduction :

Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861. He was born in a Brahmin Telugu family. He is the greatest Contributor to engineering.

Education :

He got his early education from the primary school in Chikkaballpur. He got his higher education from the school in Bangalore. He got his B.A from the Central College, Bangalore, then he affiliates of the University of the Madras in the year of 1881. He studied Civil Engineering at the prestigious College of Engineering in Pune, India.

Lifestyle :

Sir, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya lost his father, at an early age. Then, He migrated to Bangalore for his Higher Education,

He is also known as "The father of engineers in India". He changed the whole of India by his great god gifted mind. He contributed so much to India in Engineering. He was a great inspiration for the whole world.

Achievements :

He received India's highest honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. He was the founder of Krishna Raja Sagara Dam. He was awarded the honorary membership of the London Institution of Civil Engineers. He constructed many Dams, and improve the drainage system of India. He was a Legend. He inspired many. Sir took a Job with the Public Works Departments Mumbai.

Later, He was invited by Indian Irrigation System so, Sir joined that. In which sir contributes to the Dams. He studied and find an alternative source for income and money for his academics. He got Bharat Ratna as an award.
