Smog is a photo chemical haze caused by the action of solar radiation on atmosphere polluted with primary pollutants such as methane,ethane and oxides of Nitrogen from automobile exhaust.

O2 + O --->O3
NO +O3 --->NO2 + O2
Atomic oxygen reacts with hydrocarbon to form radicals which in turn react wth NO2 AND HYDROCARBONS TO FORM SECONDARY POLLUTANTS causing SMOG.
smog not only reduces the visibility but causes suffocation in breathing and is toxic to humans.
