Status is our relative social standing within a community, whereas our society expects us to play a role in a specific status.

  • A status is essentially a personal or party role. A role is the behavioral dimension. While roles are being played, status are always occupied. A role is the way a person fulfills a status obligations and enjoys its privileges.
  • Status, means the place or rank that a person occupies within a social group, and a role refers to the specific functions that the person is expected to perform within that social group. Every holder of status is also a role performer hence, both are inter connected.
