subsidiary alliance describe an Alliance between princely state and East India Company Armies in which princely state have to accept British East India company's Army e in their territory and also have to pay maintenance for them and if they fail to do so then the parts of the territory would be taken away as penality example Nawab of Awadh was forced to give his territory in 1801 by implementing the subsidiary Alliance
