It is the practice by which a woman(called as surrogate mother) becomes pregnant and gives birth to a baby in order to give it to someone who cannot have children.

So if their is a man(M) and his wife(F) are unable to become parents due to some reasons then they can seek help from another women(F2) for giving birth to their child.

Main reason for surrogacy

•Infertilite couple.
•Malformation of womb.
•Couple having same sex.
•Some women can't handle pregnancy due to various health related issues.
•Career issues( like for models or working women).
•Single parents.

Now there can be two type of surrogacy

1)Full surrogacy (Gestational or host surrogacy):
Here sperm is taken from M and egg from F and embryo is created by In Vitro Fertilization(IVF) which is then transferred into F2 for further growth. By this the baby born will inherit the traits of the parent(M&F) and will not have any traits of the surrogate mother(F2).

2)Partial surrogacy ( Traditional surrogacy)
Here the surrogate mother is impregnated naturally or artificially by using the sperm from M. Thus here the child will have the traits of his father(M) and the surrogate(F2).

Answer:

In gestational surrogacy, the child is not biologically related to the surrogate mother, who is often referred to as a gestational carrier. Instead, the embryo is created via in vitro fertilization (IVF), using the eggs and sperm of the intended parents or donors, and is then transferred to the surrogate.
