They also developed some new tools known as plough and was used to dig earth for planting the seeds and turning the soil. A method of irrigation was used due to less rainfall.

The people of the Harappan civilisation were expert in animal husbandry and they used to rear many types of animals. The main animals domesticated in the Harappan civilisation were sheep, goats, cows, buffaloes, etc.

Animal husbandry was the main means of livelihood of the people of Harappan civilization. Apart from this, agriculture and trade were also the mainstay of the Harappan civilisation's economy.

The people of Harappan civilisation used bullocks and buffaloes for traveling in bullock carts. He used to go from one place to another by bullock cart. The people of the Harappan civilisation were also familiar with the horse and used the horse for travel. The Harappan civilisation reared cows, buffaloes and goats, which were used for milk production. Animals such as dogs, rabbits, pigs, hares, deer, etc. were reared among the animals. All these animals were domesticated as Harappan animals for different purposes.
