presently there are two islands who are the neighbours of our country namely lakshadweep and andaman and nicobar . Lakshadweep is situated in the arabian sea while the andaman and nicobar in the bay of bengal. port blair is the only airport and city of andaman . the indira point got submerged in the 2004 tsunami. most of these islanda are habited.

There are 2 groups of islands in india-
1. Arabian group of island which are commonly known as lakshwadeep group of island. Some of the features of AGI are-
• these are coral island.
• receives less rain fall
• has less vegetation
•it is close to mainland
• it is sparsely populated
•its has no volcanic mountains

2. Bay of bengal group of island which is commonly known as andaman and nicobar group of islands.some of its features are-
• these are submerged peaks of himalaya
• has high rainfall
• high vegetation
• it is far from mainland
• it is densely populated
•only volcanic mountains in india are present here.
