The central nervous system(CNS) consists of the brain and spinal cord. It is referred as "central" as it integrates information from the entire body and coordinates activity across the whole organism.The CNS is often divided into white and gray matter. There are 100 billions neurons in the brain. Spinal cord running almost the full length of back carries information between the brain and the body. It also controls simple musculoskeletal reflexes without input from the brain.
