Answer:

  • Parliament is India's highest legislative body. This is bicameral system. The Indian Parliament consists of “the President and two chambers” - the Lok Sabha (‘House of People’) and the “Rajya Sabha” (Council of States).
  • The President has the power of call or adjourn any House of the Parliament or dissolve into the Lok Sabha. The Indian Parliament is run in 'Parliament House' which is located in ‘New Delhi’. In the ‘Lok Sabha’, there are representatives elected by the people of the nation whose maximum number is 552.
  • The ‘Rajya Sabha’ is the permanent house with a membership of 250. The Rajya Sabha members are elected for 6 years. Of which 1/3 members retire after every 2 years. At present, the number of members of Lok Sabha is 545 and the number of Rajya Sabha members is 245.
