Unorganized workers (UW) in India have increased many folds post independence. Around 52% of UW’s are engaged in agriculture & allied sector and they constitute more than 90% of the labour work force. UW also contributes 50% to GDP (according to National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganized Sector i.e NCEUS). So it is of utmost importance to look into the plight of this poverty-stricken and downtrodden class of India.....

Problems in the unorganized sector

In the unorganised sector, the employee is mostly at a disadvantage and he faces quite many problems some of which are given below-

1. Lack of job security

2. Problem of child labour

3. No fixed duty hours, and wage is quite less.

4. No separate provision for leaves or holidays.

5. Work is also not fixed and thereby it can change from time to time.

6. Workplace hazards are more and lack of awareness regarding it.
