The Rebellion of the Gond tribes was highly concentrated in Bastar region.

The British officers were highly scared with the possibility of a Gond tribe Revolt in the Eastern Ghats.

The main cause of this rebellion was excessive intervention of the British Empire into the internal matters of the Gond tribe.

This Revolt took place in February 1910 in the battleground of Bastar.

The British took over forest land, increased rural taxes and they interfered in tribal administration. This caused discontent among many tribes including the Gonds. The Gonds and other tribes had to borrow money from money lenders to pay taxes. This discontent among indigenous groups led to frequent revolts against the British, which peaked in the 19th century.

The Gonds are indigenous people living in Madhya Pradesh, eastern Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bihar. Their language is related to some Dravidian languages of southern India.
