write a short note on the river Tapi

MrKhan01: The Tapti rises in the Satpura ranges in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.
It also flows in a rift valley, parallel to the Narmada river.
Its basin covers parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

It is one of only three rivers in peninsular India that run from east to west - the others being the Narmada River and the Mahi River. The Tapi is the second largest westward draining inter-state river basin. It covers a large area in the State of Maharashtra besides areas in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
