Harappan Civilization is also known as Indus Valley Civilization . The remains of the oldest and the largest ancient urban civilization found in mohenjo Daro ,Chan hu daro , Rupar ,Lothal and Kalibanga and many other places on the bank of river Indus before the partition of India the coins and the other materials wera excavated first time at Harappa in Punjab now a (part of Pakistan) in 1921 by Sri RB Dayaram Sahawney he proved that 5000 years ago there lived a civilized place in India . The city planning was done very well . The streets were made in such a way that the blowing winds clean them from one end to another . the town was divided into parts known as citadel and lower town . The main building were in citadel . the main occupation of Harappan Civilization were farming weaving pottery toy making metal work and trading . There main crops were cotton wheat and barley . The script of Harappan Civilization or Indus valley civilization was known as pictography .
