Secondary sex characteristics are features that appear at sexual maturity in animals and during puberty in humans, especially the sexually dimorphic phenotypic traits that distinguish the sexes of a species, but that, unlike the sex organs, are not directly part of the reproductive system.

Some features develop as the result of the sexual maturity attained at the time of puberty are called secondary sexual characters. Some of them are : In boys : Increase in height. Activity of sweat glands. Development of body hair in chest and face. Voice change because the larynx increase in size. Some body changes like broadening of the shoulders etc.. In girls : Increase in height. Development of body hair. Shrill voice. Body change like broadening of waist etc.. Hope this helps!!
