Frost has presented nature in quiet and unconventional manner. In other nature poems we come across beautiful birds such as nightingale and sparrows .But Frost has used the crow in this poem .The thought of showcasing a crow brings out the very depressive and sorrowful state of mind among the readers .

A hemlock tree is a poisonous tree with small white flowers .The poet does not write about trees like the maple ,the oak or the pine trees that bring out the beauty of nature .He seems to be in a depressed mood full of regret and so he used the poisonous hemlock to convert to the reader's his state of mind .
