Synthetic Fibres are made of polymers that do not naturally occur.
They are produced chemically.

There are many artificially made fibres, some are:

• Rayon :- made in factories using wood pulp.( it is also the first artificially made fibre so
It is referred as 'The laboratory's first gift to the loon'. )
Rayon is also called "Artificial silk".

• Nylon :- made from coal, petroleum, water and air.

• Polyester :- It is a polymer of many ester units.( Terylene as the most popular form )

• Acrylic :- It is manufactured as a filament and often used as a substitute for wool.

.Rayon or Artificial silk .Nylon .Terylene .Poly Ethene Tetraphthalate(PET)

.Acrylic Fibres(Acrylon)

Rayon:this natural fibre is processed to obtain a silk-like fibre. Therefore, rayon is sometimes also called regenerated fibre.

uses of rayon:

it is suitable for wear in summer because its fabric can absorb sweat

Nylon:it does not use any natural fibre as its raw material.Nylon also called the wonder polymer

uses of nylon: it is used for making common householdd articles, such as toothbrushes, combs, hooks, etc.

Terylene:terylene is another synthetic fibre which is used for making clothes

uses of terylene:it is largely used for making fabrics.

poly ethene tetraphthalate:it is a synthetic polymer commonly used to make bottles, boxes, etc.

uses of PET:it is used for making magnetic tapes used in audio and video cassette recorders.

Acrylic fibres.

uses of acrylic fibres:

.They have a long lasting lustre.

.They dry quickly.

.They are easy to clean.
