The urinary bladder is a muscular sac in the pelvis, just above and behind the pubic bone. When empty, the bladder is about the size and shape of a pear. Urine is made in the kidneys and travels down two tubes called ureters to the bladder. ... Urine exits the bladder into the urethra, which carries urine out of the body.

Human urinary system is the body' organ system which performs the function of removal of liquid waste from the body. It consists of the following parts:

1) Kidneys: A pair of kidneys are the main organs of the urinary system. There function is to filter blood and eliminate the waste in the form of urine. Kidneys containmillions of small filtering units called nephrons. Impure blood enters the kidneysthrough renal arteries. It enters the nephrons, where the blood is filtered and wastes are removed in the form of urine. The pure blood then leaves the kidney through renal vein.

2) Ureter: These are the tubes which carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder.

3) Urinary bladder: It is a sac-like organ where urine is stored before urination.

4) Urethra: It is the tube which connects urinary bladder to the genitals for urination. In males, urethra is long and passes through penis. In females, it is short and emerges above the vaginal opening.
