Vande Mataram is a poem written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1870s. the poem was composed into song by Rabindranath Tagore. the first two words of the song were adopted as national song of India in October 1937 by congress working committee prior to the end of colonial rule in August 1947.

vandemataram movement or the swadeshi movement.
when: when the partition of bengal.
reason: the partition of bengal led to the boycott or the swadeshi movement.
outcome: the people were asked to to boycott British institutions and goods and adopt everything swadeshi.
=> it urged the people to adopt Indian education and Indian languages.
=> the Congress under pressure of the extremist passes a resolution for the promotion of swadeshi.
consequences: revolutionary violence was suggested to over throw the British rule and the chant of vandemataram could be heard from all corners.
