Vernacular press Act was passed by Lord Lytton In 1878 it is also known as Gagging Act. According to Vernacular Press Act Newspapers in regional languages in India were not allowed to print anything againt the Britishers and their policies. The main aim of newspapers was to criticise the policies of Britishers.
