He was an Irish poet and playwright.
The troubled times of Ireland haunted his poetry.
He experimented in different styles of writing poetry.
Some of his works are Verse Dramas, such as The Island of statues and Mosada and Poems like The Wanderings of Oisin and Other Poems and The Wind Among The Reeds.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923.

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939) was born in Dublin. His father was a lawyer and a well-known portrait painter. Yeats was educated in London and in Dublin, but he spent his summers in the west of Ireland in the family's summer house at Connaught.
