☛Zeolites are crystalline solids structures made of silicon, aluminum and oxygen that form a framework with cavities and channels inside where cations, water and/or small molecules may reside. They are often also referred to as molecular sieves.

Zeolites :

a) zeolites are aluminosilicates

b) if aluminium atoms replaces few Silicon atoms in three-dimensional network of sio2 overall structure is known as aluminosilicate

c) it requires a negative charge which is balance you why cations like Na+ , K+ or Ca 2+ ions.

d) generally zeolites having cage like structures with cavities

Uses :-

a)zeolites acts as Ion exchangers and Molecular sieves

b) used in softening of hard water

c) ZSM-5 zeolite is used to convert alcohols directly into gasoline
