Write a short note on zilla parishad

Zilla parishad is the highest level of panchayat system. The members are elected by common people for a term of 5 years. Some seats are reserved for sc, ST, OBC and women. The parishad is headed by president and a vice-president. It has functions like maintaining roads and other infrastructure, providing essential services (water,electricity etc) to the people, and as the people are mostly farmers, advising them about seeds, soil management and correct use of chemicals and machinery, and providing education. They collect taxes for revenue.

Zila Parishad works at district level. it is the highest level of Panchayati Raj system. The Zila Parishad actually makes developmental plans at district level. With the help of Panchayat Samitis, it also regulates the money distribution among all the Gram panchayats.
