Duwaniya serves a significance purpose in Kuwait’s development of Kuwait over the last so many years by enabling quick consensus and communication building amongst other things. There are several types of Duwaniyas which have evolved from the initial archetype and they vary in terms of the groups which they serve and the formality level.

EXPLANATION:

• The Duwaniya was originally the reception area wherein Middle Eastern men received their male guests and business colleague. Presently, the term denotes to a reception hall and the gathering held in it, and hosting or visiting a Duwaniya is a significant feature of an Arab’s man’s social life. That is, Duwaniya became an essential part of Kuwaiti life.
• The modern form means a famous place where people, conventionally men only, meet to deliberate on political concerns and other socio-political concerns. The Duwaniyas are fundamental to Kuwait’s business political, and social, life, the places where topics of interest are discussed, alliances formed, associates introduced, and alike networking activities carried out. Formal Duwaniyas are summoned to deliberate on particular topics, at times with guest speakers who are invited.
• They are also called for specific purposes, for instance election campaigns. Formal Duwaniyas are the foundation of Kuwait’s consensual political system. Duwaniya has many types namely public, family, and private. Each Duwaniya has its own food and beverages offers; however, they all usually offer coffee and tea (Arabian) for their guests.
