Satpura Range, range of hills, part of the Deccanplateau, western India. The hills stretch for some 560 miles (900 km) across the widest part of peninsular India, through Maharashtraand Madhya Pradesh states. The range, the name of which means “Seven Folds,” forms the watershed between the Narmada(north) and Tapti (south) rivers. With peaks more than 4,000 feet (1,200 metres) high, the Satpura Range includes the Mahadeo Hillsto the north, the Maikala Range to the east, and the Rajpipla Hills to the west

Satpura range:

Satpura range is a hill range present in the central India and it stretches from the eastern side of Gujarat to the state of Chhattisgarh. This hill range of Satpura is parallel to the Vindhya range.

The division of India in Indo-Gangetic plain and Deccan Plateau is due to the both ranges i.e., Satpura and Vindhya ranges. The rivers which originate in the satpura range include Narmada, Tapti, Godavri, etc.
