In Palampur, two methods of cropping are used-multiple cropping and High Yielding Variety (HYV) . Both these greatly help in increasing the productivity of the land. Multiple cropping allows the farmers to grow two crops in an agricultural year. HYV seeds help to increase the production to a large extent.

Cropping pattern of village Palampur:

The people in Palampur follow the pattern of multiple cropping. They are able to grow three different types of crops.

Farming is the ‘main occupation’ of the people in Palampur. The agriculture system is well developed with a number of tube wells and there is a good supply of electricity in Palampur. This helps the people in farming and they are able to grow ‘three different crops’ in the year.

During the rainy season, they grow jawar and bajra, in the winters they grow wheat and between October and December, they grow potatoes.
