Answer:

In my eyes , my grandmother will always be the most wonderful, patient, irreplaceable, and unforgettable person that I have ever met. Grandma, who was a unique person in all senses, also had a unique name. Her name was Visilia. We used to called her Mama Vashi because she was a caring, loving, and beautiful person, but Mama Vashi was not only beautiful on the outside, but also inside. She had the biggest heart that a person can have.

I remember grandma was always willing to help everybody who needed her, even after having her hands full with twelve children and many, many grandchildren. She always found time to help and listen to others. She always said, "There is a solution to every problem," and "The only thing we can not do anything about is death." When a problem arises, we have to see all of our options to find the best solution for that problem, and never run from it. Grandma had a lot of sayings. One of her favorites was " Do everything from your heart and don't expect anything in return." Grandma had a little store where she used to sell fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, and other things. I remember the time when a woman walked into the store with her little son, and all she was doing was looking and looking around. The woman looked like she didn't know what she wanted; but grandma knew better, and she asked the woman if there was something she could help her with. The woman replied, "What can I buy with this little bit of money?" Grandma answered, not much, but take what ever your family needs, and just pay me later. I will write it on the payment plan book. And, with tears on her eyes, she said thank you many times to grandma. Then, the woman picked what she needed and left. Grandma with her kindness taught me a lot through out the years. Another of grandma sayings was, " We always have to keep a smile in our face, for it will keep us young."

In our lives, we all have that one particular person who tends to become our role model. For most of us, either our parents or one of our teachers eventually become our role model. In other cases though, media personalities, celebrities and persons of higher status end up becoming our role models depending on how exposed we are in current affairs. What stands out though, is that we all love our parents, but at the same time many of us also feel that their advice is against our wishes, perhaps that is why we often prefer to look for a role model in one of our teachers. As much as I love my parents, their opinions and views about my problems have always been different than mine.

However, I never really looked up to my teachers as role models until I came across Mr. Kalead, my high school math teacher, and he ended up becoming an unforgettable person in my life.

I remember when Mr. Kalead “the new teacher” introduced himself to my class as our math teacher. I was not amused. I had an attitude towards the subject and as a result did not have any interest in the one teaching it. But everything changed when he seemed to have specific interest in me. He talked as if his message was directed at me; to change my attitude about the math because with his help, the subject would turn out to be the most interesting subject that will help me achieve whatever I desired in life. I later came to learn I was not alone; Mr. Kalead had touched the hearts of many of my colleagues. He urged us to play our role of being students, he made funny jokes and he made a lasting impression that makes him an unforgettable person in my life.

Moreover, Mr. Kalead could create a very pleasant learning environment in the class every single day through his unique teaching style and his talent of connecting with his students.

If ever get to become a teacher, or regardless of what profession I might pursue in the future, I hope to mimic his attitude, behavior, and his mannerisms. For me, he was not just a math teacher but a person who often gave me advice regarding problems in my life. Perhaps that is why I began looking up to him as a role model and that is how he became an unforgettable person in my life.
