Factors affecting Solubility

Explanation:

• Solubility - the maximum amount of solute that dissolves in the given amount of solvent at equilibrium in simple words for example you are adding sugar in water then the maximum amount of sugar you can add in a solution before no further sugar will dissolve is referred to as the solubility of sugar.
• There are different factors that affect the solubility of solute, some of them are enlisted below;

1. Solute-Solvent interaction- strong interaction result in greater solubility while weak interaction results in low solubility. Also, polar solute easily dissolves in polar solvent i.e. a general formula is "like dissolves like."
2. Temperature - depending upon whether a reaction is endothermic/exothermic, the increase/decrease of temperature results in shifting the reaction forward or backwards.
3. Pressure - the solubility of gases in liquids is affected by pressure.
