Answer:

The theory of evolution by natural selection, first formulated in Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859, is the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits. Changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its environment will help it survive and have more offspring.

Answer:

Darwin proposed the scientific theory of evolution which is better known as the theory of Natural Selection. Darwin suggested that only the fittest can survive. Those plants and animals which are not fit for survival die. The fit species reproduces and pass on the relevant trait to the next generation. This processes of selection of characteristics which contribute to the fitness for survival was termed as natural selection.

According to Charle's Darwin, there exist competition among individuals of the same type to survive. This causes the struggle for existence. As a result, the species that have characters, useful for survival are selected and hence they survive. An organism which does not possess these characters and is not fit enough to survive, die. This process takes place for many generations.

After a long period of time, the species may be very different from the original individuals of the same species. But if this changed species shows successful adaptation and growth in the given environment then it gets evolved. This process of development of the species is called natural selection.

Hope it helps :)
