                      Short speech on teacher's day

Respected Principal, Teachers and dear Students. I am indeed happy to be here in this auspicious occasion of the Teachers day. We know it is the birth anniversary of one of the modern India’s notable teachers, late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. Our nation is indeed blessed with him as the second President of India.

The teachers are engaged in the task of the building the nation. Your passion, dedication and commitment are really appreciable and by celebrating this day we are trying to pay our thanks to you for your wonderful service to the society. It is indeed you, teachers, who are igniting the potential and possibility of each and every student and making them the great heroes of tomorrow.

Teachers are the source of inspiration for students to reach the heights of their lives. A teacher can increase the potential of a student and it can be developed to the position of a great contribution to the society. Thus the role of a teacher is a stepping stone for the students.

The classrooms should not just be a centre of acquiring knowledge but it should be used for the character formation and the total development of each student. Thus every class room should be a factory of producing good citizens.

Teachers have a responsibility to play. That is, they should be role models to the students. Through that we have to eliminate the problem that was highlighted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who had said that the curse of the modern world is the absence of role models. Yes, it is you who are the ones who are supposed to become role models for us.

Teachers, we thank you for your commitment, dedication, hard work and moreover the love that you gave us. We are proud of you. We will be remembering you even when we leave this school. Let me conclude my speech with a salute to the teachers. Thank you all.
