Trudging the trodden path
The Mukherjee Mansion was a house that bore only doctors. Great grandfathers, fathers, grand uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, doctors doctors everywhere.
Into the mansion was born Baby Anirban. Starting from his delivery to his vaccines all were rendered by the doctors at home. His mother was a famous gynaecologist, his father a cardiologist. Anirban’s first birthday gift was a play medicine kit.
As Anirban grew it was as if predetermined that he would be trudging the trodden path. He had to be a doctor.
Anirban was a promising student. He always topped in class. He had another great talent. He was an excellent singer. When he sang even the koels stopped their singing.
After his twelfth exams there were two roads for him- one to trudge along the trodden path, and the other the road less taken. He could either be a doctor like the rest of his family members or he could perfect his skill of singing and be a singer. He was in dire straits.
Anirban’s family wanted him to pursue the profession of the family whilst his friends and music teacher wanted him to take up music. After a lot of contemplation Anirban took a unique decision.
He decided to trudge along the trodden path but in his leisure hone his singing skills. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde he would be a doctor during day and a singer at night.
Filled with euphoria everyone celebrated with joy. Now he is a famous surgeon and a renowned singer- Doctor. Anirban Mukherjee.
