Naveen was very excited about going home for his summer vacations. As soon as he came out of the station to board a cab to reach his house, a very unfortunate thing happened. Someone pick-pocketed his wallet. He got to know about this when he was to pay the cab driver. The driver was much cooperative that he waited for someone from Naveen's family to come with the fare. Naveen was very sad about this experience and all his excited went in vain. The members of his family made him comfortable and instead for feeling sad they asked him to rejoice of meeting the family after so long. The bond and happiness of the family made him happy and a bit comfortable.

Naveen was excited about going home for his summer vacations as soon as he came out of the station. He had not seen his father for the past two years as he was stationed in a military base near Jamshedpur. The war was almost over. As soon as he reached his home station, he leapt out of the train.
His father would be waiting for him back home. He ran through the streets. As soon as he reached home he frantically cried , "Baba!! Baba!! Baba!!". But no one responded. He went to the front door. A huge crowd had gathered near his house. People were crying. He did not understand what was going on. He kept searching for his father. He kept calling his name. As he frantically made his way towards the crowd people clutched him trying to stop him.
He had gone crazy. His worst nightmare seemed to be playing in front of him. He ran through the crowd pushing his way through. He wanted to see what the crowd was for. He saw his mother sitting in front of a box. Her hair was disheveled and her breath came in pants. She had been crying for long. She called for him. For him the time had stopped. He did not realize when he had started sobbing. Very ugly sobs racked through his body. He realized that his father, his rock, his guide, his friend had passed away.
He held his mother's hand. Both of them wept. They held each other. The soldiers gathered and took their positions. To honor him they fired three shots in the air. His father was taken away. They returned home. It did not feel the same. Everyone was in disbelief. Naveen got up and looked at his father's belongings. He saw a pair of sunglasses with a note. He read it Teas pricked his eyes. His father had written, "I do not know if it will ever reach you. If it does it will mean i have failed to keep my promise to protect you and your mother. Take care of yourself and your mother. I love you very much. Do well in life.
I will watch over you from above. Wear my sunglasses. Do me proud." He wore the sunglasses. He felt some strength. A hope kindled within home. He rushed out and looked at the stars. One star was particularly bright. It seemed to smile down on him. He smiled back.
