Earthquakes cause a lot of damage and heart break too. Many a great men lie under the rubble of earth that was toppled by massive earthquakes. Ranjit was a great painter whose work was rarely appreciated by others. He led a poor life because he dedicated all his time to painting. His paintings were not sold often and so he had to go home empty handed most of the days. However,Amit, his friend understood his paintings and encouraged him. One night he was completing his masterpiece, and decided to stay back in the studio while Amit went home. The night proved to be Ranjit's last night, as Gujarat suffered a massive earthquake. The area where his studio was located suffered the impact and was in rubbles within minutes. The next day, as rescue operations began, Ranjit was not to be found. After a few days, his family gave up and stopped the search. A few weeks later, when the rubble was moved, Ranjit's body was found beside a beautiful painting. Though the body was decayed, the painting was intact. Amit picked up the painting and broke down. Six months later, as the city limped back to normalcy, the painting was auctioned by Amit and sold for two crores. The Indian Museum had bought it and the family members were given the money. Although the family was poor and in need of the amount, they decide to keep Ranjit's memory alive by donating the money for rehabilitation of the earthquake's victims.
