The Hare and the Tortoise
Once upon a time a short-sighted hare lived in a forest. He was exceedingly arrogant as he thought no one could run faster than him.
Quite near to his burrow, lived a modest tortoise who loved to do things slowly, but steadily. The hare often made fun of his slow speed. Once the hare challenged the tortoise to a race. The tortoise accepted the challenge.
The race started from near the burrow it was to end at the edge of a lake that was quite far away from the burrow.
Obviously, the hare ran very fast and secured a huge lead. The lake was just a few hundred meters away. The hare thought, “Let me catch my breath a little.” So he sat under a tree. He looked far down the race track; there was no sign of the tortoise. A cool breeze was blowing; the hare fell asleep. After a short while the hare woke up with a start. He remembered the race. he shot towards the lake.
However, as he reached the lake, panting, he found the tortoise waiting for him. The tortoise had won the race.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
