It was a cold night, and I was all alone in the woods. I knew that I was lost, because I was very familiar with them. But then again, they say every know thing looks different in moonlight, and the moon was shining bright.
Suddenly, I heard something go through the bunch of bushes behind me. I turned around almost immediately, and froze. There was no one there, and while I never believed the stories of ghosts, for a moment, the thought that someone undead was trying to haunt me crossed my mind.
And then a heard it. A clear voice of footsteps on the dried leaves on the forest floor...or should I say, pawsteps?
It was a puppy! A rather cute one too. At first, I was surprised to find a little puppy in the thicket, and then I wondered how it had managed to stay alive in there, not because of the "ghosts", but I knew there were wolves and foxes there.
I picked it up carefully, and held it close. I was wondering how to get home. I finally found the small and narrow path I had made by clearing the leaves, which led me straight to my small hut.
I was thankful it wasn't windy that day.
The dog suddenly started barking in a small voice. I was startled at first, so I stopped, and so did the dog. I started walking, and it barked again! When I stopped, so did it.
This happened a few times, and then I understood that it was barking in happines because I was advancing towards the warm hut, and it stopped because I did. It was adorable!
I decided to keep it. Jenny, a friend of mine who lived with me, and who, by then, would have been asleep, knew a lot about basic animals, and loved them. I decided that I'll ask her if it was a he or a she the next day, and let her decide it's name.
