Write a short story on 'THE VAIN STAG'
Answers
One hot summer day, a stag came to a spring to drink water. As he stood there drinking, he saw his reflection in the clear water. "Ah!" said he, "how beautiful my horns are! But I cannot bear to look at my ugly thin legs. I wish they were as beautiful as my horns"
Just then he heard the sound of a hunters horn and the barking of hounds. He fled for his life. The legs whuch he had despised, soon carried him to a safe place. But the horns of which he was so proud, were caught in a bush. He tried his best to free himself, but all in vain. The hounds came up to him and tore him to pieces.
The beautiful horns which he had admired so much proved to be the cause of his death.
