The Fall
We decided to go to the famous restaurant in the city on my birthday night. After an hour long drive, we reached our destination.
We went up the elevator to the roof. The view was magnificent. It was a splendid idea for a rooftop restaurant.
Nothing can go wrong, I thought. But I was mistaken.
A blink of an eye later, people were heard screaming. It was on the floors below that there was panic. A fire had erupted in one of the hotel rooms and was quickly engulfing the whole building. The people around me started running helter skelter.
There was total chaos. No one knows now what happened that night. I saw people jumping off the windows down below. The fire was on its way up.
I took a breath, and began to run.
Ten steps.
Five steps.
Three steps.
I launched off the roof, seemingly falling to my doom.
I could not believe this could happen to me. That I had to jump off the 37th floor, just to save my life. But save it did.
