I got my new bundle of books when I entered class VIII. Class Teacher told that we will be having our unit test in a month's time. So, I thought of studying from the beginning. I picked up a book which looked attractive. It was so interesting that I spent fifteen days in reading this without caring I have to more books to go. Then, one day my friend Hanif called to ask about my preparation. I replied joyfully that I have completed the book on moral values. He said that we hardly have any such book for this exam. Later, I came to know that the book was meant for class IX and had come in my bundle by mistake. Now, my mind stopped working. Three books and just 12 days to prepare. I wasted two days in anxiety for I was not able to grasp anything. Then, I composed myself and thought of beginning again. The exam day arrived and I was almost shivering with fear. I saw the paper and almost jumped with joy as it contained a 20 marks essay on moral values. The rest three questions I managed to attempt but this one I wrote with great confidence. I got 18 marks out of 20 for this particular question. After it was all over I realised that no knowledge is waste. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Answer:

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining

“You are under arrest.” I looked back and saw the police officer with hordes of others. I was quickly whisked into a car and taken like a high profile criminal. The car stopped not in front of the police station but at the Crime Branch headquarters where the SSP and other senior officers waited for me.

As I stepped out of the car, newsmen flashed their cameras. There was a chaos. However, I was taken to an inner room for interrogation. I was frightened and had no idea about the happenings and was totally disarrayed. At last someone dressed in civil uniform came and started questioning me. “How do you know Dawood? What are your plans?” The questions kept pouring and caused a more puzzling environment. The police was already issuing statement outside how they had trapped “Chetan”, Dawood’s man in Pune.

A mobile company chairman from the national capital praised his staff for their wonderful technology in pinning down a kingpin and helping to erase terrorism from India. All kinds of stories were circulated within hours. The evening newspaper has splashed my photograph on the front page and every channel worth its name had footage of me as breaking news.

I was sweating. I told them that I was innocent, but no one paid any heed to it. Suddenly, it came to my mind that probably this is the famous “Bakra” show telecasted by MTV. I started looking for hidden cameras. A smile came to my face as I could not be fooled any longer. Seeing me smile, the police warned me of dire consequences. I also heard some of the police officials talking about using third degree on me. I was terrified at the thought of it. They would use third degree to force the truth out of me. But the truth was that I was innocent and no one wanted to believe that.

After great difficulty, I understood the entire situation. The much talked about criminal, Dawood Ibrahim was inviting orders to his counterparts in India. These orders were given on a mobile number which was similar to mine. The police had intercepted some messages and played them for me. I said the voice was not mine. They recorded my voice and send the record for the audio and voice forensic analysis. It proved that the voice was not mine. Then they went into the details of the number again and enquired whether it was 989991xxxx. I told them that my number was 989981xxyy. Only then they realized their folly.

Finally, I was allowed to go and all the charges were removed. I was also interviewed by many news channels. I became a star.

After it was all over, I realised that every cloud has a silver lining.
