Answer

Binomial nomenclature is used while naming an identified organism. Binomial nomenclature was introduced by Gaspard bauhin and was popularized by Carolud von Linnaeus.

Some rules are followed while naming, Biological names are generally in Latin and written in italics. The first word in a biological name represents the genus and the second component denotes specific epithet. When the name is hand written they are separately underlined and if printed they are in italics. Genus starts with capital letter while specific epithet starts with small letter. And the name of the author is written in abbreviated form after the specific epithet.

For example : Mangifera indica Linn here, Mangifera denotes genus and indica represents specific epithet.
