Answer:

My dear fellow citizens,

On this glorious day of celebrations of our great nation’s 75th Independence Day as   ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, I extend my warm greetings to all the citizens of this beautiful mountain State of Arunachal Pradesh, a land of dawn-lit mountains depicting diverse and culturally rich tribal communities living in peace and harmony for centuries.  Dear Friends, today, as we enter into the 75th year of our Independence, it is an opportune time to look back at our journey so that we can charter our journey ahead as a great nation.

75 years ago, on this auspicious day, we the citizens of this great nation had pledged to build an India of the dream of our forefathers. After 75 years, we can say with pride that we have come a long way, making significant achievements in every field. Under the leadership of our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the country has witnessed an unprecedented development during last few years.

To explain the importance of democracy some fundamental questions need to be answered: What exactly is meant when people say ‘democracy’? Why is it assumed democracy should be the preferred form of government in the world? How does it compare to other models for political organization? And why is there such a widespread perception that democracy is under threat?

When talking about the importance of democracy it is important to define it accurately. Democracy is popular sovereignty – in Abraham Lincoln’s words, ‘government of the people, by the people, for the people’. At its heart is the concept of the population choosing a government through regular, free, and fair elections.

A citizen of a country is an individual recognized under the custom or law as being a legal member of a sovereign nation or allegiance to a government in exchange for its protection, whether at home or abroad. A citizen is one of the dominant pillars of the country. They are entitled to enjoy all the legal rights and privileges granted by a state to the people encompassing its constituency and are obligated to obey its laws and to attain his or her duties as called upon. We are all a citizen of our country and retain several rights and responsibilities towards our community, state, and country.

Each citizen has a responsibility to make his or her community a decent place to inhabit. When you are a responsible citizen, it implies that you know your duty adequately and will volunteer for numerous things that are required by the community or the society in general.

Thank you
