Making school attendance optional will increase the number of school dropouts among students who do not have a zeal for education. It will encourage those who see no point in education to leave school because attendance is up to them this will also lead to increased illiteracy levels.

Making school attendance optional will also lead to poor performance by students because they will miss classes because they are optional and therefore not acquire the required appropriate content to perform exceptionally in their exams.

Making school attendance optional will remove the seriousness from the education sector because some people may deem education as unnecessary because it is optional.
