Every year on 2nd October is celebrated as Gandhi jayanti. One of three national holidays Gandhi jayanti is one of them .On this day mahatma gandhi was born in 1869 at porbandar,Gujarat.Gandhi's birthday (2nd October ) is also celebrated as the international day of non-violence .Gandhiji is also known as 'father of the nation ' due to his contribution towards India 's independence in a peaceful and significant manner.Mahatma Gandhi had led many movements like salt march , non-cooperation movement and civil disobedience movement etc which were widely spread all over the nation.People took participation in the movement in large number which led to successfully launched of the movements.

Mahatma Gandhi not only fought for India 's independence but also for social evils like humiliation,casteism , untouchability ,race etc.

He also fought in South Africa for the black people.

Mahatma Gandhi also fought for the rights of the peasants and upliftment of the poor people and poor section of the society.His succesful and effective movement was in Champaran for the peasants.

Gandhi jayanti reflects the great personality of mahatma gandhi.Bapu is still in our heart of every indians and we prays for his soul rest in peace.
