Sleep deprivation can also be very dangerous. Sleep-deprived people who were tested using a driving simulator or performing hand-eye coordination tasks did as badly as, or worse than, people who were intoxicated.7 Drowsy driving causes thousands of car crashes each year, some of them fatal.8

★ A speech on the harmful effects of sleep deprivation.
A very good morning to my teachers , and my dear friends,
Myself ( your name ) from class ( your class) is going to discuss about a very important topic 'Sleep Deprivation '.
As youngsters we all want to sleep late. night is the time to catch up on some assignments, movies, video games or friends. We seldom want to sleep for 8 hours when we can survive the day by sleeping for only 5 or 6 hours or maybe four hours sometimes don't we?
Nonetheless, sleeping is a vital to the human body as breathing. it not only refreshes you, but also re - energizes you for the day ahead. But what happens if you haven't slept for enough hours are you haven't slept at all? sleeping helps us in keeping our heart healthy and our mind sharp.
If we don't sleep adequately, we expose ourselves to increased blood pressure and irregular heartbeat. And nobody wants to have health issues as an teenager!
Thereis no doubt that at night we concentrate better and there is much needed peace. But, one needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep, if you fail to do so, the brain is unable to consolidate memories or information.
Imagine this, you studying the entire night, believing that you are putting an extra effort to score good marks, but in the morning, when you sit down to write your exam, your brain is refusing to recall the information if you're putting into it the entire night you can't remember half of the things.
During sleep, the brain organizes the memories and information the brain gathers while it is awake. If you don't sleep for 7 to 8 hours of sleep less it doesn't get enough time to organise the information. Thus , the brain faces problem recalling somethings.
Also sleep deprivation hampers the cognitive process of the brain. It reduces alertness, attention span concentration power and problem solving abilities of an individual. All the things are extremely important for a day to day functioning. A small task like driving becomes dangerous if you sit behind the wheel with a half eyes open. As the problem solving ability of an individual reduces, he/she can cause a fatal accident. Less sleep affects our capability of making split-second decisions imagine how dangerous can that be?
Even do one feel that after years of sleeping less makes one immune or the body adjust such a routine, it has been proven that people who continuously sleepless perform poorly on mental alertness tests. Such individuals are also five times more prone to depression than people who sleep properly.
In short, we must set a routine and give sleeping as much as important as we give to breathing air or drinking water. Sleeping less impacts the heart and the mind both.
I am sure you wouldn't want to give up on your sleep just to gain several diseases, would you ? Think deeply on this friends !
Thank you!
