During his fourth independence day speech, Modi urged the fellow citizens to come forward to build a New India by 2022. Outlining his vision, the Prime Minister explored the strengths of the Indian society and the successful journey of independent India in the last 70 years.

It is against this backdrop, we are presenting a list of the most important challenges that India must overcome in building New India by 2022 as proposed by Narendra Modi.

1. Unemployment: Despite the measures for the increased employment opportunities through Skill India, Make In India and labour reforms among others, the unemployment rate has been on an upward swirl in recent years. As per the Fifth Annual Employment - Unemployment Survey (2015-16), the unemployment rate rose to 5%, as compared to 4.9% in 2013-14, 4.7% in 2012-13 and 3.8% in 2011-12.

Moreover, the unemployment rate was significantly higher among females as compared to males. At the all India level, the female unemployment rate was estimated to be 8.7%, whereas for males it was 4.0%. Lower levels of employment rate among women are of much concern for the society as a whole.

India will become totally digitized. Everything ranging from your ID card to your Bank Account, cash, passport etc. will be totally virtual. The concept of a ‘Hard Copy’ will become obsolete.

Today’s paper print media will be exhibited in tomorrow’s museums. People of that era will gaze and wonder how things were like back then (in our era). People will forget handwriting and pens and paper will become;; history. New born infants will have their aksharabhyasams on tablets. :)

Every action and transaction of ours will be totally monitored 24 hours. There will be heavy censorship and ordinary citizens will face the heat for speaking against the establishment. Big Brother (in this case our Government) will always be watching over you, whether you like it or not.

Physical crime will decrease while cyber crime will rise, despite stringent security measures taken by authorities.

High quality education will become open and free. A complete revamp will take place. People will now start pursuing careers based on their passion and talent instead of marks. Traditional educational mindset will take a backseat as people will turn to newer and more daring education and career paths.

The population of India will rise to such an extent that it will become impossible to sustain it with the current food production, despite huge imports. There will be a brief period of internal strife and civil war in which many will perish, bringing down the population substantially. Following which the nation will stabilize again.

Indians will now start giving equal importance to other sports such as soccer, Hockey, Gymnastics, Kabaddi etc. and let go of the obsession for Cricket, though Cricket will still remain one of the most lucrative options for sports as a career.

Militarily India will become a global superpower and will have enough influence to play a leading role in South Asia. The UN will finally grant India permanent membership to the Security Council and India will have a greater say in World Affairs.

India might have a few military skirmishes with Pakistan and China, both of them which will test it’s military might substantially. But India will emerge unscathed, barring a few bruises.

Areas such as the North East which were untouched by development will finally receive the Centre’s attention and be on par with the other developed states of India.
